Police are on the lookout this Saturday for a teenager who allegedly robbed a Southcrest grocery store at knifepoint.
At around 2:40 p.m. Friday, a 17-year-old walked into the La Nueva Michoacana Market in the 1700 block of Vesta Street and pretended to be a customer.
He placed items on the counter to purchase and then pulled out a knife and demanded cash from the register, according to Sgt. David Jennings of the San Diego Police Department. The robber grabbed the cash and fled on foot, but was followed by the store’s owner for nearly 100 yards. Jennings said the owner lost the thief near 4100 Nordica.
The suspect is described as a 15- to 17-year-old black male. He was dressed in dark clothing and had Halloween skull face paint on at the time of the robbery. Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
