A 19-year-old man is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds on Saturday following a violent carjacking in Oceanside.
At around 11 p.m. Friday, Oceanside Police Department officers responded to a shooting in a parking lot in the 600 block of Douglas Drive. Officers found a teenager suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Lt. Matt Cole.
The man was airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers interviewed three of the victim’s friends who witnessed the robbery. The driver of the vehicle the victim was in told officers they were robbed by four black men. The victim was shot during the robbery, during which the witness’ car was stolen.
The car was found near the crime scene 30 minutes later by police. The incident is still under investigation.
