A 20-year-old man was in grave condition at UCSD Medical Center Saturday night and not expected to survive after he was injured in an alley fight outside a Logan Heights residence.
The fight occurred early in the morning, but the man was not taken to the hospital by friends for seven hours, police said.
The police investigation so far revealed that the man attended a Friday night party at a residence in the north alley of the 3200 block of Imperial Avenue, San Diego Police homicide Lt. Paul Rorrison.
“At about 2 a.m., other party guests and friends of the victim heard a fight outside in the alley. When they went outside, the victim was found unconscious in the alley and was taken back to the residence,” Rorrison said.
“About 9 a.m., the victim’s friends were unable to wake him and transported him to the hospital,” he said. “Due to the victims’ prognosis, homicide detectives were called to conduct the investigation into the incident.”
Detectives have conducted interviews and collected evidence at the fight scene and a related residence, Rorrison said. No suspect information was available.
The victim’s name was not released pending notification of relatives, he said.
Police asked that anyone with information about the incident call detectives at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
