An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.1 rattled parts of San Diego County early Tuesday morning.
The temblor hit shortly after 4 a.m. at a depth of around 3.7 miles in an area north of Route 76 and Lake Henshaw. It struck along the Julian section of the Elsinore Fault Zone.
No damage was reported, but a handful of people as far away as Carlsbad and parts of San Diego told the U.S. Geological Survey that they felt the small quake.
