A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in the La Presa area near Spring Valley early Tuesday.

The unidentified victim was struck by a westbound 2003 Honda while he was attempting to cross Jamacha Boulevard at Grand Avenue against a red light for pedestrian traffic around 12:15 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Pearlstein.

The 74-year-old San Diego man behind the wheel of the Honda entered the intersection on a green light, Pearlstein said.

The victim died at the scene. The driver was not injured and was not cited in connection with the collision, Pearlstein said
