Homicide detectives Thursday want to know who fatally beat a 72-year-old man at his East County home — and why.
Patrol officers responding to a reported assault in the 1000 block of Pine Drive in El Cajon shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday found the victim suffering from severe head injuries, according to police.
Medics took him to a hospital, where he later died, Lt. Frank La Haye said. The victim’s name was withheld pending family notification.
Authorities have disclosed no information about a motive.
“This investigation is still in the preliminary stage, and currently there is no suspect information,” La Haye said.
