Officers checking on the welfare of a retirement-age East County couple Wednesday at the request of a relative found a man and woman dead in the residents’ home near Lake Murray.
The patrol personnel made the discovery in the 6900 block of Wyoming Avenue in La Mesa shortly after 9:30 a.m., according to police.
“At this time, we are treating this as a death investigation with suspicious circumstances due to some traumatic injuries seen on one of the victims,” La Mesa Police Lt. Brian Stoney said this afternoon.
The deceased were both believed to be about 70 years old, the lieutenant said. Their identities were not immediately released.
