A motorcyclist led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase up and down Interstate 8 in San Diego and La Mesa early Wednesday.

Officers attempted to stop a red and black Suzuki motorcycle for a high speed violation on westbound Interstate 8 near Baltimore Drive around 12:20 a.m., but the rider kept going, according to the CHP.

CHP officers tailed the motorcycle as it exited at Mission Gorge Road and got back on the freeway heading east.

The rider got off on Spring Street and continued speeding through La Mesa, but eventually stopped and was taken into custody, the CHP said. The rider’s name was not immediately available.
