A blaze, which might have begun as a vehicle fire, engulfed a Fletcher Hills home late Friday afternoon, authorities reported.

The fire in the 2300 block of Charles Way in El Cajon erupted about 4:45 p.m., according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.

Crews had the flames largely extinguished within a half-hour, city spokeswoman Monica Zech said. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear, though initial indications were that it might have begun as a vehicle fire, according to Zech.
