A gun-wielding man was fatally shot by San Diego Police officers in San Ysidro early Monday.
Officers were sent to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard near Howard Avenue after someone called 911 around 1:05 a.m. The events leading up to the shooting were not immediately made public.
The suspect was wounded in the shooting and was taken to a hospital where he later died, police at the scene told reporters. No officers were injured.
Homicide investigators were summoned, which is protocol in all officer-involved shootings in San Diego regardless of whether anyone is killed.
