A man who apparently jumped from a freeway overpass in Hillcrest early Wednesday’s has died, authorities reported Thursday.
Paramedics began CPR on the man after he was found lying underneath the onramp from southbound state Route 163 to East Washington Street shortly after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego Police and the county Medical Examiner’s Office. It was not immediately clear how long he had been there beforehand.
He was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. He has yet to be identified as was only described by officials at the medical examiner’s office as a white man of between 27 and 37 years old. A cause of death was not listed.
The transition ramp was temporarily closed afterwards, but was reopened around 6:15 a.m., according to police and Caltrans.
