It took emergency crews about an hour Tuesday to free a motorist who got trapped in her Jaguar when an automated security gate came down on the sedan at the entrance to a parking structure at a Mission Valley condominium complex.
Firefighters had to carefully cut the gate off the hood and windshield of the car and use hydraulic rescue equipment to cut and pry apart the crumpled body of the vehicle enough to get the driver out, said Capt. Joe Amador of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The unidentified woman, who was conscious during the noontime ordeal in the 2000 block of Camino de la Reina, was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of apparently non-life-threatening injuries, the fire captain said.
It was unclear why the gate lowered before the car was clear of it.
