A car struck and seriously injured a jaywalker on a Clairemont-area thoroughfare this afternoon.
The 21-year-old pedestrian was illegally crossing Clairemont Mesa Boulevard at Clairemont Drive when the westbound 2004 Chevrolet Mailbu hit him about 2 p.m., according to San Diego police.
Medics took the man, who was not immediately identified, to a hospital for treatment of severe and possibly life-threatening head trauma, Sgt. Ray Battrick said.
The motorist was uninjured, the sergeant said.
