At least one person was severely injured in a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Escondido that caused a massive backup during Friday morning’s commute.
Up to five vehicles were involved in the crash in the southbound carpool lanes near Ninth Avenue shortly before 7 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck prompted authorities to close a carpool lane and the fast lane and issue a SigAlert. It was lifted around 8:30 a.m.
