An out-of-control SUV slid off a rain-slick East County road Tuesday, only to wind up in a wetter place — a backyard swimming pool.
The Mitsubishi Montero Sport crashed off Paradise Valley Road in Spring Valley, went through a fence behind a home in the 400 block of Broadview Street and plunged into the pool about 10:30 a.m., according to Cal Fire.
The vehicle wound up partially underwater, said Kendal Bortisser, a spokesman for the state agency.
Firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers pulled the motorist from the SUV. Medics took the San Diego resident to Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego for treatment of minor injuries.
Light showers had been dousing the area prior to the accident, according to the National Weather Service.
