San Diego Coast Guard workers rescued a man from a Carnival cruise ship off the coast of Point Loma on Wednesday, officials announced.

Coast Guard officials received a report around 9 a.m. from crew members aboard the cruise ship “Carnival Imagination” stating that a 67-year-old man was experiencing symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding.

The man was medically evacuated at 10 a.m. by an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter. The ship was 50 miles southwest of Point Loma at time of the evacuation.

The man was transferred to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest at around 11 a.m.

He was in stable condition, Coast Guard officials said.
