U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man and a woman earlier this week in what appeared to be a human smuggling attempt.

After San Diego Lifeguards noticed a suspicious boat heading south, a federal surveillance plane spotted the same boat heading north around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The air crew guided a surface vessel to intercept the rented jet boat, and the driver was directed to pull into Dana Landing near Ocean Beach.

Border Patrol agents found a 25-year-old Mexican woman passenger who was illegally present in the United States. The 51-year-old male driver of the jet boat is a U.S. citizen.

Both were placed under arrest and transported to a local Border Patrol station for processing.
