A man who appeared to be in his 60s robbed a credit union office in downtown San Diego on Tuesday.

The thief confronted an employee at the San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union office on 320 B St. and demanded cash shortly before 12:30 p.m., according to police. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

Witnesses described the bandit as a roughly 5-foot-10-inch, 150-pound black man wearing jeans, a black T-shirt and a black jacket.

Officers searched for him in surrounding downtown areas, including Horton Plaza, San Diego Police spokesman Matt Tortorella said.
