An actor from the television and move franchise “Jackass” was arrested on trespassing charges in Hollywood Sunday after at publicity stunt aimed at SeaWorld and its treatment of killer whales.

Forty-one-year-old Stephen Gilchrist Glover, known as Steve-O of “Jackass” fame, was arrested after he entered a secured construction site, climbed a crane, set off fireworks and dropped an inflatable Shamu toy before climbing down, said Lt. Michael Ling of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Station.

Police and firefighters responded about 8 p.m. to a possible jumper who was atop a crane at 6094 W. Selma Ave., said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters responded and deployed air cushions in case the man jumped, but he climbed down and was taken into police custody, Stewart said.

“It was too dangerous for police to go up there,” Ling said.

The actor/stunt man apparently pulled off the stunt as part of his ongoing protest against SeaWorld, the lieutenant said.

Steve-O got in trouble with the California Highway Patrol for defacing the SeaWorld exit sign in San Diego last September, according to news reports.

Gilchrist was expected to make bail Monday. It was set at $5,500.
