Traffic lanes on University Avenue in North Park are slated to be closed beginning Thursday for five days of work on area water mains, according to the city of San Diego.

The work on the two-block stretch between Park Boulevard and Florida Street is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue through Monday at 6 p.m.

The city says all eastbound lanes will be closed. One lane will be available westbound.

The work is part of a project to replace four miles of old cast iron pipes in North Park, Hillcrest and University Heights
