A fight on Moonlight Beach in Encinitas Wednesday left a woman injured and a man facing charges of sexual battery, false imprisonment and making threats.

Lifeguards along the coastline at the terminus of B Street alerted sheriff’s deputies to the altercation involving the 32-year-old suspect and 49- year-old victim around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, San Diego Sheriff‘s Sgt. Joe Montion said. The victim and suspect met on the beach earlier in the day, according to news reports.

“Deputies arrived on the beach, contacted the parties involved, and determined a sexual battery occurred between them,” Montion said.

The victim was left with minor bruising to her face. The suspect remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery, false imprisonment and making terrorist threats, according to the sergeant.
