A 16-year-old boy struck by a car while riding his bike through a Chula Vista intersection was hospitalized Wednesday, as was a child riding in the car that hit him.

The boy was not wearing a helmet when he was struck by the southbound car at the intersection of Third and Orange avenues around 6:10 p.m., according to Chula Vista Police.

He was hospitalized with severe head injuries in the crash.

The driver of the car and an infant riding in the back seat were not hurt in the crash, but the juvenile front seat passenger was cut by glass from the shattered windshield, police said.
