A fisherman had a heart attack on a charter boat about 110 miles southeast of Point Loma Sunday, and and was airlifted to San Diego by the Coast Guard.

A Coast Guard spokesperson said it sent a helicopter to the boat at around 8:30 a.m.

The crew of the sportfishing boat Searcher called the Coast Guard after the man, 43, showed symptoms.

He was taken to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, the Coast Guard spokesperson said. His name and subsequent medical condition are private under federal law.
