A motorist involved in a Torrey Highlands-area traffic crash that killed a 61-year-old woman was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter, authorities said.

Anthony Perez Rodriguez, 30, was headed east in the 14100 block of Carmel Valley Road when his Fiat 500 veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a 1987 Chevrolet Nova shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police.

The driver of the Nova, Enid Mayer-Sheaf of Chula Vista, died at the scene of the accident.

Rodriguez, who was not seriously hurt, was booked into San Diego Central Jail, with bail set at $100,000.
