A 10-year-old boy found unresponsive at a North County water park Thursday was revived by lifeguards and airlifted to a hospital, authorities reported.

The boy was found at the Wave Waterpark in Vista about 11:30 a.m., according to sheriff’s officials. He was flown to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, Lt. Jim Bolwerk said, but an updated condition report was not released.

In a Facebook post, the park said its lifeguards responded immediately to the emergency.

“The Wave’s highly trained lifeguards did a great job responding instantly and effectively,” the message read. “The Wave’s lifeguards are certified annually and receive ongoing training to allow them to respond immediately to emergency events.”

Wave Waterpark did not close and is operating on a normal schedule, the park said in a Facebook post.
