A 49-year-old man was stabbed Monday in a North County neighborhood, authorities reported.
The assault in the 100 block of North Beech Street in Escondido was reported shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to police.
Medics took the victim, who was not identified, to Palomar Medical Center. The severity of his injuries was not immediately clear, Sgt. Bode Berreth said.
The assailant, described as a bald man in brown shorts and a black sweatshirt, remained at large in the mid-afternoon. Officers were searching for him with help from a sheriff’s helicopter crew, Berreth said.
The motive for the stabbing was unknown, the sergeant said.
