Border Patrol agents reported Monday that they arrested a 40-year-old man trying to enter the United States on an inflatable kayak late on July 4.
The man was observed by the San Diego Joiny Harbor Operations Center, which sent a interceptor vessel. He was caught about a half mile offshore, west of the mouth of the Tijuana River.
The crew arrested the man at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday and brought him and his kayak to a pier in Point Loma.
Border Patrol agents determined he was in the country illegally. Agents transported the 40-year-old man to a nearby station for processing and seized the kayak.
