Two firefighters were stabbed by a combative patient Wednesday afternoon during a medical-aid call in the East Village, authorities reported.
The assailant pulled a knife or similar weapon and attacked the emergency personnel shortly before 4 p.m. as they were trying to treat him for some sort of ailment in the 600 block of Park Boulevard, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
An ambulance crew took the firefighters to a hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
Police had a suspect in custody shortly after the assault, SDPD Officer Humberto Hernandez said. The arrestee’s name was not immediately available, nor were the firefighters’ names released.
