Oceanside Police were on the lookout Tuesday for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 38-year-old female acquaintance in a riverbed near a downtown bike trail.

The victim headed to a home on Costa Pacifica Way near North Coast Highway following the assault Monday night and told residents there she had been raped, Oceanside Police Sgt. Michael Provence said. The residents called for help around 10:45 p.m., he said.

The woman was able to provide police with information on the suspect, Provence said.
