Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver near Escondido early Saturday.
The collision occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 at 3:05 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol online incident log.
The log reported earlier calls from drivers on the freeway of a vehicle travelling northbound at high speeds in the southbound lanes immediately before the head-on collision.
The collision occurred just south of Gopher Canyon Road, in unincorporated San Diego County.
