A San Diego man who allegedly had sexually explicit photos of young children on his cellphone, many of them clients at his ex-wife’s day care, pleaded not guilty Friday to 13 charges, including committing a sex crime with a child 10 years old or younger.
Abdullah Sediqi, 64, was ordered held on $3 million bail.
Sediqi was first arrested last Saturday for allegedly taking photos up women’s skirts in Escondido. He posted bail and was released from custody.
As part of the investigation, Sediqi’s cellphone was forensically analyzed and found to contain more than 6,000 photographs, including some “very graphic and disturbing” images of children, according to Escondido police.
Further investigation revealed that many of the children depicted in the photos went to Kid’s Castle Day Care, operated by Sediqi’s ex-wife, police said.
According to authorities, the defendant lived in the house where the day care was operating.
Sediqi was re-arrested Wednesday. He faces life in prison if convicted.
A readiness conference is scheduled for June 29 and a preliminary hearing for July 2.
