San Diego Police were on the lookout Friday for four people who beat and robbed a cab driver who had given them a ride from North Park to City Heights.

The 55-year-old DBA Zula Cab driver picked up two men and two women at 30th Street and University Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday and drove until they asked him to stop in an alley off Wilson Street near University Avenue, San Diego Police Sgt. Ray Battrick said.

The four suspects punched the cabbie and took his wallet, phone and cash before fleeing, Battrick said. The driver was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries to his face.

Police described all four suspects as Hispanic and between 25 and 30 years old. One of the men was wearing a white jacket with blue stripes, and the other had on a black hooded top.
