Up to $1,000 in reward money was offered Friday for information leading to the arrest of the person or people who chopped down a tree and spray painted obscenities and other graffiti on the campus of Orange Glen High School in Escondido.
Staffers returning from the long Memorial Day weekend discovered orange spray paint covering walls and sidewalks of the campus on Glenridge Road near Bear Valley Parkway and that a 20-year-old tree near its library had been cut down, according to Escondido Police and Crime Stoppers. It was unclear when the vandalism happened.
Authorities estimated the cost to replace the tree and remove the graffiti would be about $3,400.
Anyone with information on the vandalism was asked to call police at (760) 839-4722, or to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or via email at sdcrimestoppers.org.
