Two dark sedans collided in the northbound freeway lanes approaching Plaza Boulevard around 8:20 a.m. and one overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Within about 15 minutes, traffic had backed up to Bonita Road in Chula Vista and was moving along at a crawl, the CHP said. A SigAlert for the right lane was issued.
An ambulance crew was set to assess those involved in the crash, but did not immediately take anyone to a hospital, according to the San Diego Fire- Rescue Department.
