The driver of a speeding pickup truck was arrested early Friday morning after leading California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit through La Mesa and El Cajon.
Officers attempted to pull over a red Dodge Ram pickup truck for a speed limit violation on state Route 125, north of Spring Street, shortly before midnight, according to the CHP.
The driver failed to yield and headed north on state Route 125, then east on Interstate 8 into El Cajon, the CHP said.
The suspect eventually exited the truck and attempted to escape on foot but was arrested in the vicinity of Peach and Mollison avenues, according to the CHP.
