A 28-year-old man riding a motorcycle with his father was killed Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash in Encinitas.

The two were riding motorcycles on North Rancho Santa Fe Road when a Hyundai sedan turned in front. Both riders swerved, but the victim collided with the Hyundai and was thrown into oncoming traffic, where he was hit by an Infiniti SUV, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

When response teams arrived at the scene they found the victim on the ground and his motorcycle in flames. The victim was taken to Scripps Hospital, where he later died, authorities said.

Alcohol was not thought to a factor in the crash, which took place at near the intersection of North Rancho Santa Fe Road and Peppertree Lane.

There were no other injuries, officials said.
