The driver of a stolen car led San Diego Police Thursday from City Heights to University Heights, where he crashed into a canyon and ran off with an alleged accomplice.
Officers attempted to stop the stolen green 1993 Honda Accord with two people inside around 3:45 a.m. in the 4000 block of Wightman Street, just west of Interstate 15, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said.
The driver led officers through City Heights and into University Heights before crashing into a canyon in the vicinity of Adams Avenue and Mission Cliff Drive, Cali said.
The two suspects abandoned the car and ran off following the crash, the officer said.
