The former El Cajon Police station, vacant since 2011, burned before dawn on Sunday.
Firefighters got the call at 3:30 a.m. for a two-alarm fire at 100 Fletcher Parkway, Heartland Fire & Rescue said.
The fire started in the building’s basement and was knocked down relatively quickly. One firefighter suffered a minor injury, but was treated and released on scene.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation, Heartland Fire said.
