Four people were arrested overnight Friday at a drunken driving checkpoint in University Heights.

San Diego police set up the checkpoint from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. in the 2100 block of El Cajon Boulevard, SDPD officer Mark McCullough said Saturday.

Police screened 486 drivers out of the 504 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint. Six motorists were detained for an additional sobriety screening, four individuals were arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence and three cars were impounded, according to McCullough.

“If you plan to consume alcohol, you should also plan not to get behind the wheel of a vehicle or ride a motorcycle,” McCullough said.
