A man and a woman suspected of stealing a car and leading San Diego State University police officers on a brief chase Monday near the campus were being sought by authorities.
SDSU police officers pursued a stolen white Toyota from Montezuma Road onto Fairmount Avenue, where the driver lost control and crashed while attempting to get onto Interstate 8, according to a SDSU police statement. Both occupants escaped.
The driver ran off and was last seen in the vicinity of the Motel 6 on Alvarado Canyon Road, police said. His passenger was picked up by someone driving a newer white SUV, possibly a BMW. They headed east on Interstate 8, police said.
Police urged anyone with information on the suspects to contact them at (619) 594-1991 or via email at police@mail.sdsu.edu, or to call Crime Stoppers at (619) 235-8477.
