A small brush fire broke out on State Route 78 between Sycamore Avenue and Mar Vista Drive on Sunday afternoon.

The fire burned three quarters of an acre of land up to University Drive off the westbound shoulder of Route 78, according to the Vista Fire Department.

California Highway Patrol officers shutdown two lanes of traffic to allow firefighters room to contain the blaze. It took crews about 20 minutes to control the fire and no injuries were reported.

Fire crews were not able to immediately determine the fire’s cause.
