The FBI and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department sought the public’s help Monday to identify a suspect in a failed bank robbery last week in Valley Center.
The suspect entered the California Bank & Trust at 29124 Valley Center Road around 5:15 p.m. Friday with his hand in a pocket as if he had a gun, FBI spokeswoman Emily Yeh said.
He ordered everyone to the ground and threw a backpack onto the counter. He told a teller to put money on the counter, but the employee stayed on the ground, according to Yeh.
The would-be robber fled empty-handed in a newer, black vehicle without license plates. He was last seen headed toward Escondido, Yeh said.
No one was injured, she said.
Witnesses said the suspect has a fair complexion and large nose, with a medium build. He’s about 5 feet 7 and was wearing a flower-covered motorcycle helmet, a dark scarf over his face and black clothing.
