A pair of masked gunmen robbed a Mexican restaurant in Lemon Grove early Thursday and got away with money from the register and an employee’s purse.
The suspects entered Los Rios in a shopping center at 7977 Broadway through a rear service door shortly after midnight. The restaurant had just closed and a few employees were cleaning up, San Diego County Sheriff’s Sgt. Pat McEvoy said.
The gun-wielding men ordered the crew to the floor, emptied the cash register and grabbed an employee’s purse, McEvoy said. No shots were fired and no one was injured, he said.
McEvoy said the robbers escaped on foot and were last seen running through an alley.
Both suspects were described as black, around 5 feet 6 and wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with additional information on the robbery was asked to call the sheriff’s department at (858) 565-5200, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
