An 8-year-old girl was hit by a slow-moving pickup truck while roller skating in City Heights, police said Thursday.
The girl was struck as she skated into an alley behind an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Fairmount Avenue near Olive Street around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, San Diego Police Officer Ben Newton said. A 6-foot high cedar fence prevented the Ford pickup truck’s 26-year-old driver seeing the girl enter the alley, he said.
The girl suffered a serious injury to her right leg and was taken to a hospital to be treated, Newton said.
