Two people were severely injured Wednesday in a crash on the transition from state routes 15 to 94, authorities said.

A pickup truck and another vehicle collided toward the end of the connector road around 12:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The crash left the truck on its side and the other vehicle on its roof.

One of the drivers walked away after the crash and remained at large Wednesday morning, a CHP dispatcher said. But it was not immediately clear if that driver was at fault in the wreck.

Two people involved in the crash were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital in critical condition, a fire-rescue dispatcher said.
