A 19-year-old motorist, “huffing” an unknown substance prior to the crash, was seriously injured when she rammed her car into a light pole at the corner of an intersection in Escondido.

Escondido resident Tiffany Kennedy was speeding westbound on Lincoln Avenue in a blue Hyundai Accent when she lost control of the vehicle at Fig Street and hit the light pole, said Escondido Police Lt. Greg Kogler.

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 6:56 p.m. Saturday, where paramedics rushed Kennedy to Palomar Medical Center suffering from serious injuries. The teenager was the lone occupant in the car, Kogler said.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash was asked to call the Escondido Police Department at (760) 839-4423.
