The fatal shooting of a man during an argument with his neighbor in the East County community of Potrero remains under review, authorities said Wednesday.
Mike Walliser was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, but no charges have been filed in the case pending further investigation and he will be released from custody, said Tanya Sierra of the District Attorney’s Office.
Walliser, 67, called 911 around 6:45 p.m. Sunday and “stated that he had shot another man due to threats, he, the victim, had repeatedly made threats against him,” according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. John Maryon.
Upon arrival at 23531 Coyote Holler Road, a deputy was flagged down by Walliser, who surrendered without incident, the lieutenant said.
Ronald Drinkard, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.
