A 62-year-old woman driving in the Emerald Hills section of San Diego suffered a foot wound Friday when a gunman standing on a sidewalk opened fire on her vehicle.

The woman was driving west in the 5800 block of Market Street about 7:50 p.m. when a black male wearing all dark clothing fired six to nine shots into the vehicle from the north sidewalk, San Diego police Sgt. Brad O’Donnell said.

The woman was struck once in a foot and taken to a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening wound, O’Donnell said.

A 60-year-old man and a dog, passengers in the vehicle, were not injured, O’Donnell said.

It was not clear why the gunman opened fire. He remained at large.
