A 70-year-old motorist was killed in a two- vehicle collision in Borrego Springs when he failed to yield the right-of-way to the other driver.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday at Borrego Springs and Big Horn roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was driving a 1998 Toyota Tacoma east on Big Horn Road when he failed to yield to a 66-year-old woman headed north on Borrego Springs Road in a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the CHP said in a statement.

When the two vehicles collided, the man’s pickup overturned on its right side and the woman’s Jeep remained upright, the CHP said, adding that the woman suffered minor injuries, for which she was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

The man’s name was withheld pending family notification. He lived in Borrego Springs, the CHP said.
