A rental car was stolen at knifepoint from two tourists Saturday at an Old Town gas station.

The male half of a vacationing couple in their 50s walked into the Arco station on Old Town Avenue near Moore street around 1 p.m., leaving his wife in the passenger seat of the running 2015 Nissan Versa, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said. Shortly after, the knifewielding carjacker hopped into the drivers seat and ordered her out.

The suspect sped off in the silver sedan, which has the Nevada license plate 714APJ and red tape over a broken passenger side rear light, Cali said.

Police described the suspect as white, in his 40s and around 5 feet 7 and thin with curly reddish blond hair. He was wearing a white, orange and green striped polo shirt and blue jeans.
